Introducing XYLEX® Protect from Gelest

We use surface protectants for many things in our lives. The clear coat and wax on your car make it easier to clean, and protects it from contaminants and residues. The stain resistant coating on your upholstery makes cleanup a snap. Your outdoor apparel has waterproofing treatments that keep you dry. We even spray our frying pan so our eggs slide off onto our plate.

So what are we doing for our high-touch surfaces in hospitals, restaurants, and other public spaces?

Rigorous cleaning and disinfection protocols remove microbes from the surface, but they do not prevent microbial recolonization and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) surges between cleanings. This means microbes can grow exponentially between cleanings, spreading infection and disease.

Applied once per month after regular cleaning and disinfection, XYLEX® Protect creates a durable barrier on high-touch surfaces—just like that stain-resistant coating on your upholstery. Available in a spray or wipe, XYLEX® Protect’s anti-adhesive properties make it difficult for organic residue to gain a foothold, keeping ATP levels low and within the acceptable range until the next cleaning.

What Happens on Unprotected Surfaces?

Most high-touch surfaces are disinfected daily to remove microbial growth but frequent interaction with those surfaces reintroduces microbes. These microbes can multiply at exponential rates leaving the surface, once again, unsanitary until the next scheduled disinfection.

  • Almost immediately after cleaning, humans reintroduce organic residue to high-touch surfaces.
  • On unprotected surfaces, ATP levels surge at exponential rates.

Easy to Use

Easy to Use Surface Protection

Applied monthly, XYLEX® Protect is easy to use and keeps surfaces clean. After application to a clean surface, simply allow XYLEX® Protect to dry to create a smooth, anti-adhesive, molecular barrier. It works with any standard cleaning and disinfection protocol to protect against ATP surges and to maintain a high level of cleanliness around the clock.

  • Apply XYLEX® Protect once per month to a clean surface and allow to dry.
  • Continue standard cleaning and disinfection protocols.
  • Use ongoing ATP monitoring to verify proper application.
  • Re-apply XYLEX® Protect if ATP levels prior to the daily cleaning rise above the acceptable level.
